Today we’re crossing the border with France again, for the next part of our baja beetle roadtrip!
We’re back in France, ready to climb Col du Parpaillon! Another old military route climbing all the way to 2780 metres (9100 feet)
Hey! We’ve seen them before haven’t we?
We met them just before we were about to do the mountain pass, the red Mini was having quite some troubles and an huge loss of power.
I tried to help them as much as i could, doing some checks and a tune-up. It didn’t do much, but atleast they were able to continue.
One of my personal highlights; Col du Parpaillon!
It’s just you and nature, no phone reception, having a little campfire.. perfect!
Definately the best spot i have ever camped at, it was cold since we were 2100 metres(6900 ft) above sea level but its worth it!
The top, Col du parpaillon! Seemed like a good moment to me for a photo together with me and my baja!
On top; Tunnel du Parpaillon, build late 19th century for military reasons. The road is closed from October untill May because of snowfall and frost. But beware! Even in summer there can be a lot of ice inside of the tunnel, which makes it incredibly slippery!
We’re back in Italy, for the second and last Italian part of our trip!
