Baja ready, i’m ready! Let’s go out camping!
Maybe it is just me, but i was so happy to finally go out and explore after sitting in a hostel for 2 weeks that i got just a tiny bit impatient…
This means even though i thought was well prepared, I wasnt.
I installed my fridge, my secondary battery and my rooftoptent. I thought i just had to get a couple of things and i would be fine. So i set out to a camping store in Cairns and got myself a gas stove, some pots/pans and cutlery and ofcourse i needed a chair and a table. Well that should be it!
Eager as i was to hit the road, i got some groceries at the supermarket and off i went.
First weekend of camping and relaxing was nearby Innisfail, North Queensland. I set up my tent, pulled out the table and my chair and life was good. Overlooking the river and making myself some dinner.
Just after dinner it started to get dark, and i just sat down for a moment enjoying a beer and how bright the stars were compared to what i am used to in the Netherlands.
Finally it was time for bed. It was getting somewhat chilly and the day after i wanted to get out early to go swimming.
SH*T! Mistake number one, in all the hurry i forgot to get myself a sleeping bag and something like a pillow… Yes, you had to buy EVERYTHING Roy, you started with nothing… Well something to do tomorrow!
Had 2 great nights at this spot, and i enjoyed every moment of the tropical beauty it offered me.
