The story behind how i got the baja beetle is really cool in my opinion. And has also proven to me there are really good and trustworthy people out there.

March 2019, i knew i was going to australia in november so i made a post on the ‘aussieveedubbers’ page on facebook, asking about prices of a baja beetle in Australia and if i could fit one in my budget.

After a little while this bloke Warren sent me a message, he had a Baja beetle for sale!
I was really excited, this was the model of “kit” i wanted, the color was good. It seemed to be in pretty good overall condition.

It took a little while and he sent me some more pictures, we kept in touch but i told him.. I’m not coming over to Australia soon. It would take another 8 months and a bit before i would arrive in Sydney. And then i still had to fly out to Cairns, where the car was located. So i would understand if the car had been sold before i would arrived.
He told me; No worries mate, but… do you want it?
Where i replied, yeah definately!

So over the next months we kept in touch… Just chatting a little bit and november was getting closer and closer.

Arriving in Australia and picking up the baja beetle.

And there we were… November, my flight to australia was departing! I told him i would arrive in Sydney, and fly up to Cairns a couple of days after.

And there i was, alone at the other side of the world in a Country where i dont know a lot of people and you dont have a clue how everything “works” in that particular country. Hoping that the baja still would be there, even tough we kept in touch all those months.

I walked into Warrens’ shop, and there she was!
‘I just got her out of the shed!’

So we had a little talk, agreed on the price and that i would buy it. (How could i not buy it after he kept it for me all those months?)

Over the next 2 weeks i was able to use hes shop, hoist and tools and prepared the Baja for its next big adventure!

So, good people do exist! And if you ever read this Warren, Thanks for everything! I really appreciate your honesty, help and all the barbecues you invited me to!
